GASTRIC BALL - FIND THE TREATMENT THAT SUITS YOU
There are various weight loss systems based on a gastric ball (also called gastric balloon or in Danish gastrisk ballon / maveballon). Two of the absolute best on the market are Orbera and Spatz. We use these two types of gastric balloons, as we know from many years of experience that they contribute to effective weight loss.
Our treatment is a weight loss system where a gastric balloon is used in the stomach. We offer three different types of belly balloons: Orbera, Orbera 365 and Spatz3. We will find out together which type of stomach balloon best suits your needs.
Our BMI calculator at the bottom of the page shows your BMI and determines if you are suitable for a balloon in your stomach.
We do not recommend treatment if your BMI is below 27.
WHAT CHARACTERIZES A GASTRIC BALLOON FROM?
Orbera balloons are a weight loss system that uses a gastric balloon that takes up space in the abdomen. The balloons have a fixed size throughout the course. Orbera is available in two versions. A 6 month version and a 12 month version.
The balloon is placed in the stomach through the mouth using a minimally invasive endoscopic procedure while the patient is under mild sedation. Once the balloon is in place, it is filled with saline such that it expands to a spherical shape.
The balloon can be filled with different amounts of saline (from 400 to 700 cc) depending on which amount best suits the patient’s body shape and the size of the stomach.
How does an Orbera balloon work?
The balloon takes up space in the abdomen to help patients lose weight. During the course, the patient is called up every 14 days by one of our dieticians to optimize the treatment and ensure weight loss. The balloon is removed after 6 or 12 months depending on the type. In some cases, it will be possible to see weight loss results after a few weeks.
When is a gastric ball used?
The gastric balloon method is used for obese adult patients with a Body Mass Index (BMI) of over 27 and who have not been able to lose weight through diet and exercise. The method is intended to be used while a patient is participating in a diet and exercise plan supervised by a professional.
